Joseph Richardson, Sr. was born January 12, 1921 in Tunnel Springs, AL to the union of Allen F. Richardson and Mattie Hall Richardson. He departed this life on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at Singing River Hospital in Pascagoula, MS at the age of 90.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Mattie Richardson; brothers, Allen Richardson, Frank Richardson, Robert Richardson, Hybert Richardson, Irving Richardson andJ eff Richardson; sisters, Arzella Bradley and Nora Bell Finklea.
He was a member of First Missionary Baptist Church in Moss Point. He served in the United States Army and Air Force during World War II. He retired from International Paper Company in 1986 after 33 years of service.
He leaves to cherish his memories his faithful wife of sixty-two years, Annie Ree Wiggins Richardson; sons, Joseph (Charlotte) Richardson, Jr. of Moss Point, MS, Roy (Linda) Richardson of Kennesaw, GA, Gary Richardson of Moss Point, MS and Willie George (Ann) Fountain of Tunnel Springs, AL; daughters, Patricia (James) Goode, Jr. of Moss Point, MS; Alberta (Willie) Burton of Zachary, LA and Teresa (Lemmie) Chapman of Lake Mary, FL; 18 grandchildren, James Goode, III, Brian Goode, Spec. 4 Jason Goode, Joseph Richardson, III, Jeremy Richardson, Joshua Richardson, Roy Richardson, Jr., Michael Richardson, Gary Richardson, II, Brandon Richardson, Bronson Richardson, Shayla Stevenson, Shavon Stevenson, Brian Chapman, Eric Chapman, Allison Burton, Oronde Fountain, Markael Hyde, April Fountain and William Fountain; one brother, Herman Richardson of Tuskegee, AL; one sister, Marie Richardson of Pascagoula, MS; one sister-in-law, Essie Broadnax Richardson; great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at First Baptist Church, Moss Point, MS with Pastor James O. Harris officiating. Viewing will be one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in First Baptist Cemetery in Moss Point.
